Berghof Foundation Hosts First Edition of The Berlin Moot - Johannes Zundel update
On the 17th and 18th April 2024, the Berghof Foundation hosted a high-level peace conference in Berlin, bringing together global experts from various disciplines with peace and mediation practitioners. The aim was to develop peace-making tools that reflect the current complexity of war and conflict, as established approaches and actors face the limits of their effectiveness.
Recent worldwide conflicts underline the need for more effective infrastructures for peace, and the tools used to build peace must be renewed. Our complex and ever-changing world needs a new research-backed framework for peace-making, collaboratively designed by all relevant stakeholders in society committed to conflict resolution.
The inaugural edition of The Berlin Moot pioneered new approaches to conflict resolution that will shape the future of peace in the 21st century. The event featured high-level speakers, panel discussions, and several PeaceLabs, which provided a space to reflect on new approaches and entry points to tackle the multiple crises we face. The PeaceLabs also facilitated interdisciplinary and solutions-oriented discussions, as well as high-level dialogues, providing the peace-making community with tangible results. The Foundation is hoping to host the next edition in 2026.
