The Evens Foundation Announces Art Prize Laureate - Corinne Evens update

Published on June 20, 2024

The Evens Foundation, co-founded by GPC member Corinne Evens, is an independent, public benefit organization that aims to contribute to the ideal of a resilient Europe that inspires people and communities towards a collective future of freedom, democracy, and joy. The Foundation’s activities currently focus on three pillars: Youth and Democracy, Defending Against Authoritarianism, and Youth and Mental Well-being.

For more than 20 years, the Evens Arts Prize has been honoring artists who engage with contemporary challenges in Europe. The biennial prize is awarded to practitioners based in Europe who work in visual or performing arts. An independent jury selects the laureates from a list of internationally acclaimed artists, nominated by representatives of major European cultural institutions.

As part of the Evens Foundation's ongoing investigations into the impact of rapid technological change on contemporary democracy, the 2023 edition of the Evens Arts Prize focuses on artistic practices that engage with critical imaginaries of AI.

The Foundation invited major European cultural institutions to nominate artists who experiment with AI to challenge prevailing systems, mobilize technologies towards emancipatory community outcomes, and envision democratic futures.
