Published on October 5, 2024

Piramal Foundation, directed by GPC member Ajay Piramal, has joined the newly launched Commission on Asian Philanthropy, which was introduced at the 2024 Philanthropy for Better Cities Forum in Hong Kong. The Commission aims to build an "in Asia, for Asia" ecosystem to professionalize philanthropy and address the region’s diverse challenges. Piramal Foundation, known for its innovative work in healthcare, education, and social development across India, will collaborate with leading organizations from Asia to drive systemic change and promote sustainable solutions.

With Asia holding 60% of the global population and facing growing socioeconomic challenges, the Commission seeks to harness regional wealth and philanthropic expertise to create long-term impact. Piramal Foundation’s initiatives, such as its work in transforming primary healthcare through digital interventions and its education programs aimed at empowering underserved communities, align with the Commission’s mission to create scalable, sustainable solutions tailored to the region's needs.

Through this collaboration, Piramal Foundation and other founding members will engage in research efforts that will culminate in a report by 2027, guiding the professionalization of philanthropy across Asia. Read the full announcement here.
