Mo Ibrahim Video Message for SDG Summit

In September, GPC Member Mo Ibraim sent a powerful video message to the Sustainable Development Goals Summit in New York about the challenges of the SDGs in the African continent.

He emphasized that there should be no accommodation between what are considered “climate goals” and “development goals” – both go hand in hand and must be achieved through a multilateral effort.

He also pointed out the importance of data-driven policies in achieving the SDGs: “We need to monitor our progress. I think ‘SDG’ also, for us, should stand for ‘sound data for governance’. We need to understand where we are, to know where we are going.”
